Idaho VOAD is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle—preparation, response, and recovery—to help disaster survivors and their communities.

Members of Idaho VOAD form a coalition of nonprofit organizations that respond to disasters as part of their overall mission.

The goal of the Mountain West VOAD Conference is to provide an opportunity for agencies (and individuals) from a variety of agency types (voluntary, emergency managment, government, etc.) to increase their understanding and ability to respond effectively and efficiently to all types of disaster. The main objectives are to:

  • Share best practices and research - both from case studies and experience - to increase efficiency in response
  • Facilitate small-group discussions that can improve communications and coordination
  • Provide opportunity to build relationships with peers and partners
  • Develop a basic framework for understanding capabilities of partner agencies
  • Understand the process and organization of Multi-Agency Resource Centers (MARC)
  • Learn to tap resources that will better reach children affected by disaster
